DID YOU KNOW THE ASSEMBLY OF YOUR PRODUCT COULD BE A QUARTER TURN AWAY FROM A MAJOR RECALL?
PEAK INNOVATIONS ENGINEERING HAS THE HIGHLY TECHNICAL TEAM TO DESIGN, TEST, VALIDATE, AND ENHANCE THE BOLTED JOINTS WITHIN YOUR PRODUCT APPLICATION.
Joint development and testing is all we do, so we do it better than other internal and external options. Why consume your resources when we can take care of it for you quickly, definitively and cost effectively?
WHY OUTSOURCE JOINT TESTING?
Peak innovations Engineering is an ideal choice for joint testing and development. By relieving your engineers of joint testing, they can focus on engineering improvements increasing revenue and sales. Our experience and expertise allows us to optimize joints, propose cost reduction of labor and material and troubleshoot poor yield.
WHY USE PEAK?
Peak innovations Engineering offers independent third-party fastener, joint or equipment testing. Our in-house lab accommodates immediate testing of proposed designs or changes. Peak’s specialized testing can optimize your process parameters including; torque, force, time, etc. Many of our tests can be performed at the customer’s location if requested.
How to Prevent Bolt Loosening in Equipment
The fundamental purpose of nuts and bolts will be to put two materials firmly with each other, and almost everything manufactured, machinery or hand tools, uses nuts and bolts. By way of example, the automotive and building industries would fall apart without nuts and bolts, house appliances, bicycles, power tools, and every DIY house improvement project all rely on the usage of nuts and bolts to maintain ‘things’ collectively. Having said that, you can find instances when nuts and bolts become loose and fail at holding supplies together. It is not a great thing when that happens, especially if the nuts and bolts are used to hold an automobile’s engine elements together or passenger seats. As you’ll imagine, nuts and bolts that vibrate loose can be a severe safety concern that’s why stopping nuts and bolts from becoming loose are so important.
Bolt Loosening Prevention
While nuts and bolts alone can be safe non-moving and non-vibrating objects with each other, materials that are joined by these types of fasteners that move and vibrate regularly can eventually weaken their grip and come loose. After a loss, bolts and nuts often fall out of their mounts and onto the floor or in other places that could potentially damage the moving components of equipment or machinery, such as a vehicular engine. To stop spontaneous bolt loosening, the slip in between the joined parts needs to be eliminated or at the least lowered to beneath critical levels. This could be achieved by growing the axial tension or the friction between the clamped parts or decreasing the cyclic loading (one example is shock, vibration, or cyclic thermal loading). Another widespread system should be to raise the friction involving the bolt threads. Even though you’ll find numerous helpful solutions to do that, some have disadvantages worth considering.
Bolt Loosening Solution
One example is, glue or adhesives could be an effective friction-based method, but dried glue is usually problematic when dissembling and removing the bolt. Furthermore, growing the friction amongst threads would lower the achievable preload at a distinct torque level. Locking wire is a frequent system inside the aviation industry. Fatigue is permanent harm or deformation inside the bolt and clamped components. It is brought on by the loss of preload resulting in an opening inside the joint. Spontaneous loosening and slackening will be the two basic mechanisms for loss of preload.
Essentially, spontaneous loosening or rotational self-loosening occurs when a bolt rotates loose simply because of shock, vibration, or dynamic loads. Even a slight rotation might be adequate for any bolted joint to drop all of its preload. This is the most common cause of bolt loosening. Fundamentally, when you have to secure nuts and bolts, and you aren’t sure about the locking device to work with, it tends to make sense to ask somebody who knows.
